"Sixpence turned out to be the smallest unit" — the day after reading this book, I couldn't remember the protagonist's name.
六便士原来是最小单位。看完此书的第二天，甚至记不住男主名字。
I only remembered that the painter simply lived out his life that way.
只知道画家也就这样过完了一生。
Did the painter completely disregard his first wife and child? He had his own dream, and if he couldn't fulfill it, life had no meaning for him.
画家是不是完全不在意第一任妻子和孩子？
他有自己的梦，如果完成不了他的梦他活着便没有意义。
While chasing that dream, he found himself often hungry and poorly clothed. Would you say he never gave in to life? I think he did, but deep down he had a kind of pride that wouldn’t let him admit it.
追逐梦的期间发现自己吃不饱穿不暖，你说他没像生活屈服吗？我认为屈服了，但是他骨子里却有一股傲气，不想承认。
So later, if any woman could meet his needs without interfering with his painting, he wouldn't turn her away. He simply didn’t have the energy to care about survival. Though he initially claimed not to need love, he ended up getting married again, even had a child, and developed feelings. Later, he fell ill, and his wife never left him—I think she was quite remarkable too. One of their children even died.
所以后续如果有女人满足他的需求，也不影响他画画这件事情，来者不拒。因为他没多余的事情去管生存这件事情。
明明一开始说不需要爱情，可后来又结婚了。还有了孩子。而且也有了感情。
后来得了病，妻子也不离不弃（我觉得妻子也挺厉害的）。孩子还死了一个。
In the end, he was burned to death, along with the paintings he had spent years creating. Because no one ever saw that final piece, it actually sparked even more curiosity.
最后火烧死了，他也烧死了他耗时多年画的画。那幅画也因为大家看不到反而更引起大家的好奇心。
Another character who left a deep impression on me was his “artist friend.” That artist loved his wife but was too humble and eventually returned home. Will he really never forget her for the rest of his life? Time will tell. Maybe so—but no one is truly indispensable to another.
其实让我印象深刻的还有他的画家“朋友🧑🤝🧑”，那位画家啊，喜欢他的妻子，可是却太卑微，最后回家了。真的会一辈子忘不掉吗？时间会证明一切。也许吧，但没有谁离了谁不能活。
One thing is certain: whether it’s the moon or sixpence, each has its own way of living. So what?
可以确定的是无论是月亮还是六便士。各有各的活法。怎了呢又？
